BITE 2019- Feast your mind
THE Committee for Greater Frankston’s recent advocacy achievements were once again on display at the 2019 BITE conference. Our community was eager to learn more about the emerging Frankston health and education precinct and were exuberant about the professional jobs this will bring into our city.
Helping Monash University and Peninsula Health bring this vision to life is: the Andrews state governments commitment to the new $562 million Frankston teaching hospital and $68 million commitment to stage 2 of the TAFE redevelopment; and the Morrison federal government $32 million health future hub research grant to build out Frankston’s academic program.
Fixing Frankston car parking, improving local public transport and shop vacancy rates continued to be the most contentious issue for the Frankston community but the BITE attendees were buoyed to see the progress to date on the Frankston rail extension.
(Extension of the Frankston train line is now a possiblity but not yet guaranteed. It requires both federal and state government funding. At a federal level, the Liberal Government and the Labor Opposition have both committed to the project. The Victorian Labor government is preparing a cost-benefit study, but has not yet committed any state funding.)
C4GF CEO Ginevra Hosking was interviewed, live from the BITE conference, on 3RRP radio about how the Committee is working with all levels of government and the Frankston community to unleash the potential of our region.
The Committee for Greater Frankston will again be proudly attending the BITE conference as a community partner.
